Thorsten Schank is Professor of Economics at the University of Mainz. From 2002 to 2010 he was a researcher at the chair of Prof. Dr. Claus Schnabel (University of Erlangen-Nürnberg). He studied economics, where he obtained an M.A. at the University of Manchester in 1995 and a Diploma at the University of Heidelberg in 1997. He received a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Manchester in 2001 for his thesis “The impact of working time on employment, productivity and wages”. Between 2001 and 2002, he was a researcher at the Institute of Employment Research, Nürnberg. His main research interests are in applied labor economics and applied microeconometrics.

His recent work includes papers on linked employer-employee data, works councils, foreign ownership, exporting firms and wage differentials. He has published several articles in journals, including the Journal of International Economics and the Industrial and Labor Relations Review.
