Stephan Kröner has been professor of empirical educational research at the
Friedrich Alexander University since 2010. He studied psychology at the
University of Gießen where he graduated in 1996. Until 2002, he worked as a
researcher and post-doctoral researcher at Erfurt University and Erfurt
University of Education, where he also received his PhD in 2001. During his
studies he spent some time in the USA at the University of New Mexico and at the
New York University. He worked as a scientific project manager at the
headquarters of the German Federal Employment Agency, Nuremberg, from 2002 to
2004. Then he entered the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg,
where he worked as a senior lecturer from 2004 to 2008 and as an interim
professor at the Faculty of Education from 2008 to 2010. During this time, he
also finished his habilitation in 2009. In 2010 he received job offers from the
University of Passau (declined) as well as from the Friedrich Alexander
University to his current position.
In the context of LASER, his main research interests include the assessment of personal action constructs, dispositional self-regulation and problem-solving competencies. A main research interest is the development of computer-based assessment tools. Building on his prior work as a member of the PISA problem solving expert group, he is currently developing tools for the online-assessment of complex problem-solving skills. He has published widely in psychological and educational journals and his research was funded by the Staedtler Foundation as well as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. |
